Alice Springs - Australia's Red Centre

A great day for one and all at the Alice Springs Cup Racing Carnival

A day out at the races is always a great way to spend a day - whether it's in a big group or with the family. And you never have too long to wait before there's a great racing event coming up in Alice Springs. We're only a few weeks away from the 2016 XXXX GOLD Alice Springs Cup Racing Carnival. The Carnival begins on 7th April with the XXXX GOLD Carnival Launch and goes right the way through April, culminating with XXXX GOLD Alice Springs Cup Day on 2nd May.

When to go

If you're going with a group of girlfriends, then Imparja Ladies' Day on 9th April at the Alice Springs Turf Club is the obvious choice. As well as dressing up in your finest race day outfits (don't forget your hats), you'll be able to choose from a variety of hospitality options - including the Cocktails and Bubbles Pavilion, the Guineas Bar and the Princess Amelia Café. Alternatively, pack a great picnic to share with your friends and eat in the shade.

Pick out a hat for Ladies' Day

The feature race on Ladies' Day is the $50,000 Imparja NT Guineas race. Part of the fun of going to the races, of course, is getting a few wagers on which horses you think stand the best chance of winning. It makes watching the races even more exciting if you've got a few dollars riding on the result. The easiest way to get bets on these days is to use a mobile betting app and before you place a bet you can check up on the latest horse racing news to make sure you're backing the right horse on the day.

For anyone who's planning on taking the kids to the races, the Coca-Cola Family Day on 23rd April would probably be the best all-round day to take them. As well as having the races to watch, there's a whole range of kids' activities going on under the shady cover of the Periduki Marquee. Kids can go on a bouncy castle, get their faces painted and have pony rides. There's also a great adventure playground and a Best Dressed competition to take part in.

For a great day out with both guys and girls, if you're between 18 and 35, then the McDonalds Young Guns Day on 16th April is probably the ideal day for you to visit the Cup Racing Carnival. The day's all about socialising and having fun, watching the races, of course, and looking your absolute best. As well as the entertainment on the track, there are also some fabulous prizes to be won for the Fashions on the Field competition - and there's a separate category for both 'Fillies' and 'Stallions'. After the last race, don't dash off too quickly as the band Clearway will be playing for a couple of hours to round the day off on a high.
